Frequently Asked Questions
To assist you in the enrolment process, here are some frequently asked questions and answers.
How do I apply for entry to Walford?
Answer: Walford does not require applicants to sit an entry examination. Students seeking entry to Walford supply the school with recent school reports and any other information regarding special needs. Walford will accept student entrance at any time during the school year from February to November. An Application for Admission form is completed and returned to the School with the application fee. The Admissions office will acknowledge your application and your daughter’s name will be registered on the list for the nominated year of entry in chronological order of receipt. Two years prior to entry, or earlier as appropriate, you will receive a formal offer of a place for your daughter. At this point you are asked to complete an Application for Enrolment form and pay the enrolment fee to confirm your acceptance of the place.
Are there international students at Walford?
Answer: International students have attended Walford for over 50 years. The current enrolment of international students is approximately 20. Students come from Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Mainland China, and South Africa. What will it be like in the Walford Boarding House?
Answer:  The Walford Boarding House is a new building opened in June 2007.  Senior girls have the opportunity to have their own rooms with en-suite bathrooms whereas younger girls generally prefer to share a room.  The contemporary accommodation includes suites of individual rooms with en-suite bathrooms and internet connections, a shared kitchenette and recreation area.  All boarders are provided with a laptop installed with the necessary software.  Full dining room facilities and a laundry service are part of the Walford boarding experience. The Walford Boarding House provides a happy and secure home supervised by experienced and caring staff.
Do you offer flexi boarding?
Answer: Yes, our boarding house has a majority of full boarders, but some girls are weekly boarders, returning home each weekend. On occasions girls become short-term boarders when their families have to travel for a period of time.
What languages do you teach?
Answer: French is taught in the Junior School from Year 3. In Year 6 & 7, French, Chinese and German are taught separately. In Year 8, students choose the language they would like to continue with. Other languages can sometimes be incorporated into the timetable through the School of Languages.
