Old Scholars' Association

The Walford family extends far beyond the school gates. All girls leaving school are encouraged to join the Old Scholars' Association which has a thriving membership of Old Scholars both in Australia and overseas.

Walford Old Scholars provide valuable support and mentoring to current students. Many are speakers at careers evenings, House Dinners or during assemblies, providing important role modeling to all within the school.

Annually the Association elects a President, Office Bearers and a Committee and is represented by all age groups. The Committee is supported by the Marketing and Communications Office who manage the day-to-day requirements of the Association.

Stay Connected

There are many ways to stay in touch with your School and your friends:

All Old Scholars receive copies of the School magazine (Jewell), which contains information about the School as well as news of old scholars.

Members are emailed a copy of the Old Scholars’ eNewsletter, an online publication specifically for the Old Scholar community. The newsletter can also be accessed through this website.

Please remember to keep your contact details updated to ensure you do not miss out on the latest news.

Old Scholars' GOLD Choir

The Old Scholars’ GOLD Choir formed in August 2017 and comprises of Old Scholars who still wish to sing. The choir is made up predominantly of ladies who used to be in one of the auditioned choirs at Walford but the group is open to choisters who also sang in their year level choir. Members come together and sing on a regular basis, enjoying a mix of musical genres and levels of choral difficulty.  If you enjoy the pleasure of singing, being part of a team, and joining like-minded souls with a link to the Walford community, do not hesitate to join this group!

Old Scholars’ Gift of an Education - Scholarship

Since 1918, the Old Scholars’ Association has fostered fellowship among past students as well as maintained their interest, engagement and connection with the school.

Members of the Old Scholars’ Association understand first hand the value of a Walford education and in doing so, wish to offer a gift of tuition support to the daughter, grand daughter or great grand daughter of a financial member of the old scholars’ association.

The entry scholarship is open to students entering Walford in the Middle School (Years 6-9).

The gift will cover full tuition fees for the duration of schooling.

The Scholarship is one single award and therefore will be offered when the current recipient has completed her studies in Year 12. The Scholarship will be advertised in the year prior to entry.

Speech Day Prizes

The Association has always maintained an active interest in the School and annually donates prizes, which are presented at Speech Day. Each year the wonderful achievements of Walford Old Scholars are recognised with Alumni Awards, which are presented on Speech Day.
