The Association was first formed in 1918 by the Headmistress of that time, Miss Mabel Jewell Baker, to foster fellowship among past students of Walford as well as maintain their interest in the School.
Walford Old Scholars provide valuable support and mentoring to current students. Many are speakers at careers evenings, House Dinners or during assemblies, providing important role modeling to all within the school.
Annually the Association elects a President, Office Bearers and a Committee (a total of 15 people) and is represented by all age groups. The Committee is supported by the Marketing and Communications Office who manage the day-to-day requirements of the Association.

Old Scholars’ Netball Team
Two Walford Old Scholars' Netball Teams have recently been formed - one which competes in the Adelaide Metropolitan Netball Division, and the other in a social netball league. These groups are re-engaging and reuniting past netball players with the School and each other, and provides team members with an opportunity to enjoy playing netball after completing school.
If you have a passion for netball, were a past player or supporting member we would love you to join the team, whether you attended Walford or not. If you are interested in being involved, please contact the Marketing and Communications Office on 08 8373 4062 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Old Scholars’ Chorale
The Old Scholars’ Chorale is a club for anyone who likes to sing in a relaxed setting. Members come together and sing on a regular basis, enjoying a mix of musical genres and levels of choral difficulty. You do not need to be an old scholar to join; some members are former staff or parents who enjoy this connection with Walford. If you enjoy the pleasure of singing, being part of a team, and joining like-minded souls with a link to the Walford community, do not hesitate to join this group!
The Association has always looked for ways to support the Old Scholar community and one such activity has been the establishment of the Old Scholars’ Association scholarship. The scholarship provides financial assistance to an Old Scholar who would otherwise be unable to send her daughter to the school. The award is made to a girl in the Senior School who is outstanding in character and all-round ability. To be eligible, the recipient must be the daughter, or granddaughter of an Old Scholar, provided that the Old Scholar is a financial member of the Old Scholars' Association.
The award provides for remission of full tuition fees for one year. This scholarship may be shared.
Speech Day Prizes
The Association has always maintained an active interest in the School and annually donates prizes, which are presented at Speech Day. Each year the wonderful achievements of Walford Old Scholars are recognised with Alumni Awards, which are presented on Speech Day.
